  • Common stock is last in line to get any assets of a failing company. Preferred stock and other financial instruments are senior and will be paid first and usually last. Common shares are mostly owned by common people and that about explains it. Other stuff:

  • The reality of common stock: To raise money a company issues shares of stock and someone buys them. The company now has their money they wanted to raise. They are happy.

  • PD Very well put. The SEC has totally failed the "common" investor that buys "common" stock. I cannot even begin to express the frustration I have with the system that destroys the dreams of working class people. Vultures feeding on the ignorance of the 401Ks and trusting investors.

  • Carloz How true. Some religions won't allow any medical assistance. The previous Bush decision was just a marginal belief in the same thing.

  • Larry Kudlow is a drama queen. Of course he has an agenda but it is mostly about Larry Kudlow and his dream of being the Treasury Sec. or head of the Fed Reserve. There is not enough money in the world to fix the unregulated OTC derivitive problem. We are stuck in the mess.

  • L for Truth: Well put. Many of today's wealthy families are living off of past sins. Many of today's new wealthy and their families will live long on today's sins. It is an unacceptable reality that we must change.
